A whole new paint job

Hey I have silver 00 civic ex, I'm thinking about getting a whole new paint job. What's the average price of the paint job? And I'm debating on a few colors. Blue, grey, orange.
For the blue, I'm debating between the "Blue stone metallic" from a 2004 is300, or a "Neptune Blue Mica" from a 2004 rx 330. or a "Blue Onyx Pearl" from a 2004 LS 430. For the grey, a "Graphite Grey Pearl" from a 2004 IS300. And I don't know what shade orange I would want.

Any suggestion?

Re: A whole new paint job

I've always liked the ebp Si's.. or purple and green polka dots. That would be different.

I wouldn't pay any less than $2,500 for a paint job

If your going to do a color change paint job, do it right. Have the engine bay and door jambs, etc painted the new color also...it looks cheesy when you have a blue mica or orange car and a green or silver engine bay. It costs more money for sure (the engine has tgo be removed, for example), but it'll look much nicer. I never liked it when people did what I call a "halfway" color change" (change the exterior, leave the engine bay, jambs, etc..stock color.

....on a side note, I like the new sig you put toghter Ricochet.

Re: A whole new paint job

for the orange, i really like the dark orange that the 350z comes in. love that color.

as far as the sig, i guess people are easily impressed. not to knock your sig ricochet, you make some damn helpful comments. i just don't think it's THAT special. and of course i realize i myself don't have a sig. i am waiting on getting my car back from the shop before i do that.

Hmm, I didn't notice that last time I logged in, of course, I has very limited time online, so I didn't really check. I think he got us mixed up, as you do more painting than I ever have done, lol. I am versed to an extent in the processes of painting a car, spot painting, prep, priming, etc much more than the regular joe (I am trying taking courses in it slowly as I have time)...but have not done much actual painting beyond priming, preping, and painting the chassis underneath the fender (since it is exposed now that my doors open vertically). Don't discount my advice earlier just because I haven't painted that much though. It still holds true. There is a difference between no knowlegde, and knowlegde without having partically applied it yet. Take Custom Interior work. I am going to be an apperentice at an custom uplostery shop, I know the processes very well. He is going to help he get the partically appilcation down, actaully doing the work. The reason he is willing to do all this? I already know the processes and products well. Anyways, back to painting, I am sure you'll agree with me...

Hey, it's all good...lol...no worry. Just cuz I don't do much painting doesn't mean I don't have a clue what I am saying, lol...we all get things mixed up sometimes....hey, at least none of us told him to go to Maaco, LOL...then we really would be idiots.
