New Paint Job... I think im fucked..

I just got my car painted like 2 weeks ago. It rained about 5 days ago. I washed my car today. There are these waterspots all over the car, and they wont come off... they look pretty permanent and they are scaring the shit out of me. My theory is that the waterspots from the rain stayed on there for too long and messed up the pain. Someone please tell me im wrong and that I can fix this problem

I wouldn`t have thought you had shagged your rides paint. What paint did you use and was it a base colour ie: Red, Blue etc. I had same problem on an old Rover which was base red. Looked great every time I polished it but when it rained I got spots that stained. The only thing I could suggest is some decent polish. I use Mer on all my cars. Fantastic product. It will put a seal on the paint so the rain runs off but you must make sure the paint has been polished before you seal. Other than that you may have some problem within the paint. I`m no paint guru but have polished a few cars in my time. :smoker2:

you probably need to get your car wet sand and then buffed.

Try a clay bar first. Mothers and Meguirers makes some decent products. Make sure you read ALL instrustions first. Then you'll need to apply a nice coat of wax/polish. It should be OK after that.

you might wanna wait another week or so before using any polish to let the car dry.

you can try claybar, but you will have to wax it...which might not be a good idea since your paint is still not completely cured. not sure, anyone with detailer's exp. explain.

i painted the lip spoiler the other day... rained, but no spots. just did a quik detailer wipe down.

I'd be taking it back to the painters and telling them that i'm very pissed off with it.

It should not have marked look you said.
Did they oven bake it?
Sounds like they probably never did and the paint has been to "soft"

They should give it a light buffing for no cost if they are any good.

maybe they forgot to clearcoat it??!

paint usually takes about 3-4 weeks to dry. i wouldn't wax it at least 2 months. it clouds up the paint if you wax too early. and it's a bitch to get the cloud of wax off. but again, I'm no expert.

I got a question myself, since we are on the topic of paint.

My front lip is slightly a different color than the entire car and is very shiny. I'm not going to do this now, but in the Spring .. what would be a good combo to wax and buff the car, to bring back the shine on the red paint of my car? I noticed the plastic side mirrors, the color is very faded and it seems the previous owner let the car bake in the sun, because the color is not as vibrant as it should.

How is durashine?

Take it back to the painters. They are the ones who messed up your car. For example, when I got fender replaced and painted the shop gave me a 10 year warrinte on their work.

Here is the deal with paint. After a car is painted you should not take it through any car wash for 8 weeks (touchless or not, doesn't matter, wash it in your driveway with Dawn dish washing soap). Do not wax your car for at least 3 months (this will give the paint time to harden, if it is waxed before it is hardend enough the paint may crack, the pain releases gases while is hardens, the wax will hold the gasses in). I know this because my mom works at a body shop and that is the offical rule from the paint manufacturer.

I was told that if the paint was oven-baked on, you just carry on as normal with washing/waxing etc.....there is no time to wait.
