the torque its making its amazing over 200lbs before 3000rpm...very nice for a 4 banger with a bigger turbo(more lag)

from what i understand the sudden drop in power is caused by the stock clutch going bye bye on the dyno

update he was running on 105 octane

i think the didn't get a jump because in hte real world road load. the clutch just wasn't up to the task. so he was probrably slipping becusae judging from the speed of his wheels from that take off, you didn't really see it acelerate at all.

Very impressive. Im not one to like any FWD with any amount of power, but its impressive non the less. My computer at work doesnt have sound, does it sound pretty good?

i wouldn't exactly call that turbo lag becuase by only 3.5K rpm its already making 200whp. so lag was not an issue really.

I agree with TAT. From the dyno sheets you can see that lag is not a problem.

I think he droped back either from a sliping clutch or intentionaly to create a more dramatic effect when passing.

1QUICK2 unfortunatelly you cannot hear the engine since he put a soundtrack...why do people do that? I want to hear the engine not music. For muzic I have VH1

If thats the case, I can't wait to see this thing with a better clutch. Maybe a video without the soundtrack too.

And don't forget MTV at about 2 in the morning also, 'bout the only time they show videos anymore.

The Video was OK at best. In my opinion, The quality of it sucked for how big the file was.

And what's with them spraying the Intercooler with compressed air during the dyno run. Compressed air is colder than the air you'd encounter on the highway. Isn't that kinda... uh 'cheating'?

Most dyno places usually just run large fans over the intercooler/radiators...


What about his clutch? Is it slipping? If he spent all that money building up that turbo setup, why couldn't he throw down another $300 for a decent clutch? What a puss.

What's with the racing part? Racing a Taurus... like that's anything to be proud of. A SHO yes, but a basic run of the mill Taurus with passengers... vs a 500hp SRT-4...

OOOOOOOOooooooo so fun to watch. Why doesn't he run somebody who's modded? So he can see how fast he really is... not against grandma's sedan.


Overall, the power output is nice. I just think the way the video quality and soundtrack was crap. The race(?) was dumb. If you look at the scenery going by, you can tell the Taurus never 'punched' it from 30mph to 'race'. And he had to say it in his video... 'Yes, I was racing...'

you see my first impression of the video from the thread title was that the neon loses to a crazy monster v8 RWD freak taurus. so it would explain the "and yes i was racing" part. so i was hoping to see a good race. but it looked like a stock taurus which stock which was a piece of shit race. that was serverly stupid.

Can somebody explain to me why the motor and its components look stock?


Ok, here's a picture of a stock SRT-4 motor straight from the Dodge site:


Compare that motor, to the one in the video... and tell me why does that 500hp motor look strikingly just like the Dodge 240hp motor... minus the airbox and MSD wires...


Just look at it, The Radiator is stock as hell. Intake manifold is stock as hell. Intercooler looks stock as hell. How do we know that's not the stock turbo?


Why does the Dyno sheet look like it was done in Mario Paint. Honestly, a real dyno sheet looks like this.




Honestly, we never saw the computer screen after the dyno run... Anybody remember that video of the 1078hp Twin Turbo Grand National? Yeah, we got to see that thing burn out on the dyno... and then we got to see the computer screen. We know it made the power... honestly it had turbos sticking out of the hood.
