Pictures from NNL West 2004

Something for everyone. I have about 75 more pics taken with my SLR camera that needs developing, and I'll add those as soon as I get them in. The shots I have now were taken after I ran out of film, so I randomly shot stuff with the digital. Check back often.

I like the Aoshima R32 as well. The Hi-Boys and Roadsters are very nice!

That F50 van behind the flamed Vette is crazy!

The first black car is a S2000 that has been stretched and a roof was put on it. Pics of it were on here a while back, very cool car.

I like the car, I think it's built by a guy named Mark Jones, it's an S2000 w/ITR parts grafted for the roof...I have a Lexus SC 400 kit in the same color (IIRC it's very dark blue), his model looks so much like it...and thus makes his effort to my eyes (only) look a bit "wasted", not because it's not extremely nice but because I'm already very familiar w/that shape, so the initial shock factor (important for most cars like this) didn't get me as much as it could have. Like the SC400, it borders on being almost too pretty, if you know what I mean... I wouldn't expect anyone else, at least anyone who's got a dark blue SC400 model in their collection, to fully understand what I mean.

There were some weird combo's at the show, the ones that took sports/exotics and did strange stuff didn't do much for me, but a couple of very clever takes on the Deora did...the '64 GTO (w/poverty caps), and the one made w/the '75 Matador back end..they looked pretty cool!

The 1/12 Skyline was built by Hossein, an AF board member but he has trouble figuring out how to post his models here. I will help him.

That blue Bel Air on the first page is just amazing. The widebody Beetle just really grabs your attention too. Great pics.

I can't believe that someone made this. I'd love to have this one.
Thanks for sharing the pics with us.

The C5-53 is a resin kit by Perry's. It's decent, the chrome isn't plated, and some people wait months and months and months and months for their kits to arrive. I bought mine at a show, so I avoided that hassle. A basic problem w/the kit is the fact it's based on a now out-of-production Revell snap kit of a 2001 Corvette convertible. The Corvette glue kits are quite different, the windshield and frame is quite different between the two. I think Perry's does cast the 5 spoke rims now, but the basic kit to build the resin is very hard to find, as they were very hard to find even when new...

My cars were next to Hossein's car and the guy with the widebody beetle. Hossein (I thought it was spelled Hussein on his tag - now I'm confused) had an awesome 1/12 Ferarri F1 car. The guy with the Beetle (ugh I can't remember his name) also built these (that's my Road Runner behind it):

Funny I never noticed the F50 van until it was mentioned. I guess I only saw the front of it when I was walking around. I may have it on my other camera.

It was a fun show. My Road Runner got chosen by SA for a photo shoot! Robert from Model Cars magazine also shot a few pics of my engine for a feature that Greg wanted to do, so I don't know if it'll show up in their NNL coverage.

What a shame. For a long time I have seen print ads of for that kit and I've loved it. I would love to build it, its just beautiful but it looks like just a pipe dream after all. Seriously, eve though it's not real, it's my favorite Corvette ever. Looks better than the 2005, anyway....
