1998 dash into a 1992

I am wanting to put a factory 1998 chevy fullsize dash in my 1992 truck.
Does anyone know what all will be diffrent? Will I need the chasis wiring and stuff for the gauges? What about the A/C ducting?
I know the mounting locations are alittle diffrent, but how diffrent?
Thanks,
James

Your in uncharted water. A lot of stuff changed in those years. I know all the wiring is different. So are all the heater controls. If you have both trucks, go for it. There is noting better than having a full donor vehicle for a swap.

I have just finished doing that, and it is a real pain- the worst part is the wiring, are you replacing the wiring as well ? or trying to use the existing wiring from the 92, what I did was purchase a 99 suburban that was totalled and then converted pretty much everything to the 92 silverado, I am still working out some of the bugs and it was more of a project than I would take on (in the winter that is) again. But I guess to answer your question -yes it will fit, the wiring is another story and keep in mind that your column is also different, as well as the column support.

Re: 1998 dash into a 1992

Well I have a 95 dash with all the cobtrols and switches.
I think what I am going to do is get an entire wiring harness for a 1995 truck. then it would be like assembling a 1995 truck(wiring wise).
I am very knowledgable on electrical circuits especially in these trucks.
My main concern was the dash mounting locations really.
Is the firewall on the 92 the same as the 95?
I mean does the bulkhead that passes the forward wiring harness going to be the same size and mount the same?
Is the main A/C evaporator and box the same just diffrent ducting?
If the answer to those questions is yes then I should not have a big problem with it. I know it is a lengthy process but I will strip the truck for painting anyway.
