Metaphysics...... Epistmology.....you know, I would have some smart contributions to this thread....if I actually was smart enough to know what those are. And do you mean philosophy? Or did they come out with yet another branch of science? But yea, I hate teachers like that. |

I always used to just call the teacher the wrong name on purpose, just so they know they are not even important to me enough to remember there name

Re: Metaphysics and Epistmology
read Plato's "The Gorgias" you'll be able to own every argument he poses, even if you are unfamiliar with the other side... or so said my philosophy teacher last semester... haven't read it yet.

Philosophy is the "love of wisdom." Epistemology is the science of how things are known to us.
Aristotle says that the life of contemplation is the life most treasured and desired. Aristotle notes that one in pursuit of happiness seeks a life which is more prized than praised. In order to discover and achieve the life that we will enjoy the absolute most, it is necessary that we recognize an existing reality, pursue it diligently, and be open whatever consequences may arise from affirming what we know to be true.

Do not diss philosophy, its worth studying.
It may not always be apparent to us, but Western civilisation as we know it is based on a particular type of philosophy. Do you think that mankind has always had free and democratic elections, freedom of speech and a free market economy?? These are the results, in part of several important 18th and 19th century philospohers, such as Adam Smith, John Locke, Hobbs and many others. Without them, our world would be quite different today. |
