1.5 or 1.6?

ok, my homeboy and i are tryin to decide wuts in his car, a 1.5 or a 1.6 for his 92 civic, this is serious cause i feel like a dipshyt for not knowin this, so if anyone can help, much info on how to tell the difference would be apprieciated. thanks, peace

What trim level is it? DX, LX, EX?

If it's an EX/Si it's 1.6...otherwise it's 1.5

Doesn't the vtec one have the spark plugs at the front of the motor and the non-vtec had them at the back of the motor; or am I just trippin'?

So then...

My questions would be:

How do you know what trim group you have?

Is there any way to distinguish between the 1.5 and 1.6 if you don't know the trim group (ie physical engine apearance, different oil filters, etc.)?


Long time time car buff but new to Hondas.
I've got a '95 Civic, 2 doors with a trunk. ready to buy lot's of aftermarket parts ehen I figure out what I'm buying them to fit
Already has CAI, Nitrous Express, carbonfiber hood.

Id say it is a 1.5 that is what my 92 has in it I dont think they started putting 1.6s in until 93 but dont take my advice Im new to Hondas

Check the stamp on the engine block where the vin# is.

yeah, look at the stamp, it will say D15(blah blah) or D16(blah blah)
