intermittent stalling/hesitation

87 s15 jimmy, 2.8- It's been stalling or misfiring intermitently when coming to a stop. I put it on a scanner and got 4 different codes. 1 for the oxygen sensor, 1 for the MAP sensor, 1 on the egr and I can't remember the 4th. Also, the brakes get hard to push, but I assume that's just caused by the hesitation, and otherwise not related. Most of the time it runs great, and there's no rhym or reason to it. Is there any advise you guys could give me? Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure what type of scanner it was, I had a buddy of mine pull em, he's a mechanic. I think it's been doing this for a couple of months, but is starting to get worse. It's a friend of mines truck, I didnt think it was as bad as she made it out to be until today. I was coming up to a stop sign when I noticed the brakes were solid, I had to give em all I had. Scared the crap out of me. So I see where she is concerned, but before today I also thought she should leave it alone as long as it ran good most of the time. After almost dieing at the stop sign, it ran perfect the rest of the day. Has me stumped.

Still can't figure it out, I put on a new O2 sensor and map sensor, neither of which helped. I also cleaned the egr valve. Is it possible that the power brake booster could cause the whole truck to almost die? Or does anyone have any other ideas? It only does it about once or twice a week, but it's not fun coming to a stop with no brakes. Thanks

Re: intermittent stalling/hesitation

I had the 02 sensor replaced on mine, with same symptoms. Took over a month, but it finally runs like it should again. I was told it could take a while because of computer relearning. Don't know if that is what happened, but it's running fine now.

Hopefully all it needs is for the computer to relearn everything. It's been about a week, and it's acted up twice since I replaced the map and o2 sensors. It puts out a code 33, which is for the map sensor i think, when it stalls. I'm going to go through the vacuum lines now. I originally thought the o2 sensor was the problem, because the cat. convertor was plugged. Any other tips? Thanks guys

It appears to be a fuel related problem, it's been putting out code 45, which means oxygen sensor reading rich. It is starting to idle rough, sometimes it will idle real high, and sometimes it will just barely keep running. Anyone know what would cause a rich running condition? It has a 2.8 w/ TBI, I'm going to run some injector cleaner through it to see if that helps.
