Alright, im pretty sure i dont want to send my chip out an get it chipped because i can get very good deals on boost controllers an i would rather do that an save some money. So what i can get is a apexi boost controller and turbo timer for a good price, an i also want to get a blow off valve.....Does anyone know a site that sells blow offs for my car and also does anyone disagree with my decision...If so please tell me why because im new with audis an i dont want anything going wrong..

Re: Help deciding with parts for 99' a4 1.8tq
bov's do not work well on audi/vw's.. they're a closed loop system.. you'd be much better off getting a nice diverter valve..

Re: Help deciding with parts for 99' a4 1.8tq
On audi's, the DV will usually only make noise if the car is chipped or if it has a high flow exhaust on it. Then you start to hear the air blowing over the lip of the valve.
You can try a forge DV or some other aftermarket one, but if you want to go a cheap, but good route, go for a porsche DV. They have some downsides, but you can buy 2, almost 3 porsche DV's for the price of one aftermarket DV. The downsides are that they are still plastic (still made by Bosch) so you can't rebuild/service them. (most aftermarket ones are metal) The actual flow rate through them however is very similar to an aftermarket one. Contact me if you are interested and I can tell you where to get one for cheap ($35.00 shipped). The porsche one seems to react faster than stock too, which is one thing you want to look for in a DV. As for the boost controller, what I've heard is that with the boost controller, you have to do many more things to the car because of air/fuel mixtures and things like that. Don't know what a "flanger adapter" is, but don't think you need to worry about one with a DV. If you do some looking, you can find chips for fairly cheap. It is the first impression that makes them look so expensive. Good luck with it! -Brad |
