transmission

I have a 94 5.7L blazer and it has no power. It starts out in third and won't shift out of it. Reverse works fine. No codes have come on but I am going to check them and make sure. I read in another post that the ecm sets it in third when there is a problem. It came on gradually and would only do this when it warmed up. Now it does it when it is hot or cold. I am going to check out the VSS even though there is no problem with my speedometer. Does anyone know what would do this?

Re: transmission

Now that I realized that the code can set wothout turning the service engine soon light on I pulled the codes off and found that code 81 was set. How do I go by fixing the 2-3 shift solenoid?

Re: transmission

I got under the truck today and tried to find the yellow/black wire that is supposed to go to the 2-3 shift solenoid but could only find the same color that goes to the temp sensor. Does anyone know where the solenoid would be on the transmission?

Re: transmission

your best bet would be to get on ebay or something and buy a pamphlet on rebuilding it. they are pretty cheap and will tell you where your solenoid is.....

Re: transmission

Those solenoids are inside the pan attached to the valve body.. There is a rather large harness going to the tranny, the wire is in it. If you drop the tranny pan you will see the solenoids on the sides of the valve body. I think they can be changed without removing the valve body. You will see the wire colors going to the solenoids inside. I think those solenoids cost about $50+ each.
