Aiding the Enemy

Senator John McCain recently acknowledged publically the fact that audio recordings of statements made publically by Senator Kerry after his return from the Vietnam war were used as psychological torture by his Vietnamese captors at the Hanoi Hilton. Also, while Senator Kerry co-chaired the Board on POW/MIA affairs with Senator McCain, Kerry was the only one on the board who objected to further investigation into the possible whereabouts and fate of POWS known to have been in the Soviet Union at the time of America's withdrawal from the war.

Senator Kerry maintained his positiion even after high ranking Soviet/Russian military defectors verified that American POW's were indeed located within the Soviet Union during and after the Vietnam conflict. (Hmmm, Mr Kerry wouldn't be afraid of more people who got to hear his "greatest hits' collection would he?)

The First Amendment does not protect the rights of any American to aid the enemy. At the very least Senator Kerry should be made to explain his comments from 1971 on, and an inquiry should be made as to their legality.... and any necessary legal action. Aiding the enemy in any way during a time of war is considered treason. Given a trial, if someone is convicted the maximum punishment for this offense in a U.S. court is death.

Kerry is a tax and spend left wing nut. Quite the scum bag - heck hes a friend of Ted which don't get much lower. However, I have serious reservations about any of these allegations being true.

Who is going to pay for the war in Iraq, the manned mission to Mars, the national debt and the falling dollar if he keeps buying votes by handing back money to the middle classes?

You say that like its a bad thing!! Dude I am part of the middle class and would never turn down getting some of my own money back! But isn't that better than a democrat who will raise every tax just to help the poor! I work hard for my living and if the poor can't make it then they have to get another job to make more! The welfare bums need to get off their lazy butts and find a job just like I did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Short term, tax cuts are great. No denying it.In the longer view,it takes money to run a country,to maintain schools and hospitals,to provide for disaster relief,to help the needy when times get tough.....I'd rather live in a country that cares for all of its citizens than just those who can afford it.

I'm glad I live in a country that will help anyone in need. I am glad that there are programs and money available when times are tough. I am saddened by the people who make no effort to get off their ass and get back to work.

As far as money goes. Over 2.1 trillion. 2,100,000,000,000+ and thats just the sum the federal government takes in. I don't have the sum at the state level but given Michigan is about average in population, it would be around 450 billion. So we are up to 2.5 trillion. Want to add in city and county taxes that are out there? Slap in about another 80 billion. There is more then enough money to go around. Its all about cash management. There is no need to raise taxes. Cut spending. Cut duplicate programs. Get people off the backs of the workers.

I'm not going to debate his speech b/c I have nothing to say. I thought it was an okay speech, but it could have been better. The one thing I was happy that he said(and i hope actually happens) is reducing the amount small businesses are taxed. My father is an etreprenuer who has had a sole-proprietorship for 11 years. The taxes are one thing my dad complains about the most. And feels he continues to get squandered out of a lot of money that should go into his pocket.

Cut useless wars, and useless space programs. Sell our unused nuclear weapons for scrap, and find a way to use the "nuclear" parts of them for our country's benefit (somehow)

It's weird to think, that in my state, people have nuclear weapons burried in their backyards, that our government will never use - that's billions of dollars of tax money, literally wasting away underground. You're right, cut spending - especially on useless crap.

Re: Aiding the Enemy

I wonder how many people are employed by the useless space programs as you put it?

NASA has invented many things over the years and that stuff as spread to many different areas all over the world! You ccan find several products in the store thanks to the usless space program.

And if the space program is so useless why do many different countries want their own space program?

I concur. We should get out of Bosnia immediately.

However, Keep the nukes. Quite nice to have around.

At least triple the money on the space program. Billions are being wasted on the lazy. They don't provide any money for the tax base so I'm more then happy to see mine go to the armed service and space program.

The nukes are only nice when they're useful - they're not very useful when they're burried under ground (or at least get rid of those ones, they're outdated, and probably also an environmental disaster just waiting to happen) Keep the good ones, besides we don't need that many. (some could argue that we don't need hardly any!)

They've been taking nukes out of service for years now with little to no replacements.

The point I made earlier of the nearly 3 trillion dollars in taxes collected by the government (federal, state and local) is more then enough to fund services. There are only 2 other countries besides the US that have a GDP bigger then that. http://www.photius.com/rankings/gdp_2003_0.html Factor in population size and there is a shitload of money being wasted.

The thing I don't understand is why Dean and I believe Kerry as well want to give health insurance to everyone under 25. All that is gonna do is take even more out of everyone's pay check. Specifically the minimum wage area.
