Remote start help?

ok i just got a remote start for my 99 z24. i installed everything double checking alll the wires were in their correct spot, and i also went out and bought the module to bypass the computer so that i could use the remote start. so i got everything hooked up right n everytime i hit the button to start the car it starts for like 2 seconds then shuts off. so if anyone has a clue to wut im doing wrong please let me no thanx.

You gotta help me here. WHat kind of remote start and what kind of bypass? What ever it is, you do not have the right code for the ignition. Hopefully you are using a 555L from DEI that self learns the codes needed.

and the bypass is the dei 555l but for some odd reason its stil not learning it

this happened to my friend. He had it professionally installed and he had to take it back in cuz he has a chip in his key supposedly, but u cant even see it. im not sure wat to do for it but it might help.

92redcav LOL. A key can have a chip i it, you dont need to see it just to make it exist.

yep, the new ones have an electromagnetic "chip" in the black part of the key.

As for problems with the 555l working, all you have to make sure is to have constant power, a (-) trigger from the remote start, and to make sure to have the yellow,black yellow, and black wires connected to the proper wires from the Passlock system in the car. Once that is correct, you have to start the car with the key to get the 555l to learn the code.

This car DOES start with the remote start if you leave the key in the ignition right? If it doesn't, you have something else wrong.

the car does start when the key is in the ignition. n there isnt a chip in the key itself. so who knows

You have your car confused with the old VATS system of the 80's with the black "chip" in the key. Yours is inside the black head of the key. You have to double check your wiring. Also, did you wire the Passlock interface (555L) as Passlock 1 or Passlock II???
