Question Replacing the stereo when it says LOC

I have a 97 Z24 and the stereo is locked up...It got locked up when i disconnected the battery...anyways, its cool cuz the CD player was broken anyways and I was planning on replacing it w/ a new one....but since it says LOC on it, should I get it unlocked before i get it taken out? Will it mess anything up if i leave it on LOC and get it taken out? I dont know what to do. If anyone knows please help. Thanks

Re: Replacing the stereo when it says LOC

I wouldn't think it would hurt anything. I beleive it just renders the head unit innoperable. Maybe ask the parts department at a dealership. Sometimes they will give you a little help.

Re: Replacing the stereo when it says LOC

visit www.geocities.com/unlocker03 to get an unlock code for your delco car radio with theftlock loc error. Dealers will charge $60-$100 and most require a service visit.

Re: Replacing the stereo when it says LOC

you can't unlock it and then disconnect it, it would just lock again, this is so if anyone takes it it wont work for them. just use the procedure at http://www.w-body.com/forum/viewtop...light=theftlock to get the code, and just tell whoever you give it to what that code is

Re: Replacing the stereo when it says LOC

I believe the point behind this post was to see if removing the radio with it locked. Would it cause problems with the car. Black cav 04 stated that the cd player was broken anyway. I don't think they would give a broken radio to someone.
Black cav o4 I would say if you can use the other post to unlock your radio do it than replace it. That way you know there will be no problems.

Re: Replacing the stereo when it says LOC

All that the 'loc' means is that you cant use the stereo until you enter the code. It will not hurt anything to leave it in 'loc' when you take it out. It does not affect any of the other components in the audio system.
