I've replaced the alternator and the battery on this vehicle, but sometimes the Volts light comes on and the headlights flicker. Is there any wire/wires I should look at? It will do this for a few minutes, stop, and then do it again.

Re: Electrical problem 1988 Cavalier
Is your battery draining? If so, look for a possible broken ground wire. I would advise you to geta haynes manual for it ($15), it'll let you know what color wires to look for and where they might be.

Battery is fine (no draining). I have a manual of it, but it doesn't tell me anything. I've also noticed that the heater blower will cut it and out too. The VOLTS light stays on more now and headlights flicker.

The only suggestion I would say is to get a volt meter to install in your car to monitor power. You can watch to see what the voltage does, if it keeps dropping it could even possibly be a shortage somewhere from the power source.

Re: Electrical problem 1988 Cavalier
If the heater fan cuts in and out, I would start my search for a short there. I just had a problem this weekend with a bonneville. I got in to start it, and the battery power cut out completely. Played with the door a little, and got it to start. Turned out to be the light switch in the door. Anyway, you probably have a short, I would guess in the heater fan, but its really hard to tell with a short sometimes, it could be anywhere.
