engine and tranny swap, from gp to sunbird

i got a question reguarding a engine and tranny swap... i have a 91 pontiac sunbird with a 3.1 liter v6 and a 3 speed auto... Now i got a 1990 grand prix with a 3.1 liter v6 and a 3 speed wit od auto... how would i go about puttin this in my car... like what do i gotta change...

yeah its because i cracked my block... and my tranny is slippin bad... so i got the engine and tranny from a relative... the question is really about the engine... its the tranny

Honestly, were I in your position, I would go looking for the Turbo motors that the sunbirds had in some of them. I used to have one of those and that thing would haul.

As far as things go for your engine and tranny, Im assuming the engine you got and the tranny you got link up correct? If so, then aside from putting it in your car, you should only have to do a few minor things as I don't think it would make too big of a problem if you're putting the same size engine and the same speed tranny + o/d. I'll talk to my old man about it, he's the master technician in the house.

Why don't you just keep the Grand Prix and get rid of the sunbird?

na it has more work to be done to it... my sunbird is in better condition... plus its a conv. so i wanna keep the bird...

Ok SnYpE, I talked with my dad, and told me that the engine should work no problem, however, the mounting brackets for the transmission may be different since it is a different transmission, and that you may also have problems with the PCM responding to the new transmission. Hope that helps.

^^^ some one told me i prolly have to change the gauge cluster, axels, pcm, and shifter???/
