2 Piece 4-2-1 Header Question

You know when installing these kind of 2 piece headers... I kno u need a gasket connecting the header to the engine but what about the header connecting to the down pipe and then the down pipe connecting the the cat? Do you need a gasket between the header and the down pipe and from the down pipe to the header??? By the way i have a DC 4-2-1 for a 90 accord ex. I bought it used so it doesnt come with any gaskets.

you should usually have gaskets between each connection along the exhaust.

Unless you (or someone else) has taken them out, you should already have gaskets in these locations. If they are worn, physically take them into an auto supply store to find a replacement. But yes, you certainly need gaskets. Without them, you will lose a good portion of your exhaust before it even hits your muffler.

Re: 2 Piece 4-2-1 Header Question

I wouldn't recommend reusing a header gasket, or something similar, as they deform significantly when loaded. The piping gaskets are made of a thick, hard, insulated material, and don't deform very much when the bolts are torqued. I don't see any issue reusing them (I've done it).

Re: 2 Piece 4-2-1 Header Question

My DC header came with a single gasket that went between the 2 piece header, the rest used stock gaskets.
