Question VIN decoding

Does anyone know anything about which digits are for what, and what each one means? My car is a 94 and I was just curious about what wonderful things the VIN could tell me.

Thanks,

Try posting your VIN coding and someone may see something they recognise.

I can explain the Vin no. for Uk cars but I doubt their the same ??
Uk cars start SJN (which is the Sunderland build location)
followed by F or B for Saloon or Hatch,then engine size ie C,
then model P10 or P11 & finally the no.of the car
This may be of no use whatsoever if the Vin no.s are
different

J = Japanese
N= Nissan
K= Denotes second car line (Luxury or otherwise)

IE: A Lexus would be JTK and Acura is JHK.

The third digit identifies vehicle type or manufacturing division.

02 CL Type-S is 19U....... because it is made in the USA

Thanks for the info, guys. One more question, where is the tire pressure decal located? I looked in all the doorjams and I have a vin plate in the drivers door, but nothing telling me factory tire pressure.

Thanks,

It should be on the underside of your center console lid. BTW, I hope you're still not on you factory tires with a 94 G20, be safe and use what it says on your tires.

I have a 93.5 and still have the stock racing slicks Don't worry though, they will be replaced soon with some Dunlop sp9000 in a 205/40ZR17 size.

NO NO NO NOOOOOOO save yourself a LOT of trouble and buy some other tires........

Try some Ultra High Performance Bridgestone S-03, Michelin Pilot Sport or Falken FK-451 - They drive SO MUCH better!!

I have tested all 4 and 3 others in a test on a closed circuit.

And best for the buck tire is definitely Falken FK-451 (see picture)

Hmmm, I don't have the factory tires still, but most of the tires I've seen including the ones I have on my car only have the max pressure on the tire, which you shouldn't use. I've got cooper tires, and I'd like something better, but they're brand new, so I intend to wait a while before replacing them. I have all four at 32psi, I figured that'd be pretty good for now.
