2003 Caravan 3.3 Noise After Engine is Warm

Hello All

Would appreciate anybody's help in identifying a weird noise in my 2003 Caravan. After the engine has warmed up and we are stopping at a light or even slowing down, we will get this "pong" noise. Just 1 knock which seems to be coming from the drivers side foot area or firewall area. It will also happen when we park the vehicle and shut the engine off. It will kind of wait for a few minutes and then it goes..."pong".

It's a kind of hollow metallic noise and I know if I bring it to my dealer without any backup, it will be the automatic," oh, we've never heard of this" answer. I'm hoping someone else has had this experience.

Any info will be appreciated.
