newbie question

im am currently saving up for a new car and am deciding on what to get. Im thinking of getting a ws6 or a eclipse/talon. What kind of milage would i get with a 12 second ws6? how much money would it take me to get it in the 12s? what times can you get on it stock? and also what years come with the t-tops?

Re: newbie question

Well, time will depend on what year the WS6 is. They're not hard to get into the 12's if you know what you're doing. We need more information on the specific car...

Re: newbie question

well i haven't made any runs at the track but i did have a couple of runs on the street with a friend of mine in his 89' mustang at cayuga raceway he ran with street tires 12.97 so iam guessing i ran 13.20 just a guess but i dont think its far from that at all. so to get a ls1 to do 12s is not that costly.

Re: newbie question

2001s are available with T-tops and the 2001 WS6s run mid 13s I think? or maybe that's the 2002. I might be confusing the years. but um. let's call mid 13s, 13.5 and 12s 12.9...so you need .6 seconds faster. shouldn't be that hard. or expensive.

Re: newbie question

stock they run 13.5 at best, and i think with full exhaust and a good driver 12's are doable... As for the talon, or DSM if you will, they suck... best you'll see stock is 14.8. And they are piles of shit that require constant maintanace.. i test drove a ton of them and they are freakin slow.. I raced one couple weeks ago with my 99 Cobra and i murdered it.. i bet they are on average low 15's...

Hey guys... I just figured I would put my 2 cents in as I own a 2001 WS6 LS1 Trans am... I have ran mine a few times in the 1/4 and my best time was 13.6 at around 105 mph (i forget exact number). Yes they come with T-tops, and the gas mileage as the car sits is in the neighborhood of 20-22 MPG, depending on how you choose to drive.. I have been told, and I dont think that its to far from the truth, that with an upgraded chip and a better exhaust system, 12s would be easily obtainable. Hope this helps.

Rob

Re: newbie question

if your asking about gas mileage of a car in the 12's obviously its not for you. you either wanna get a fast car or your looking for good gas mileage. go with the eclipse if you want good gas mileage.it doesnt sound like the sports car is for you!

To tell you the truth, the majority of Firebirds and TA's come with t-tops. I have yet to see one drive down the street without them. You can get average gas mileage with a 12 second car, not incredible but not near "horrible" mileage. You could have yourself a high 10's low 11's car that has the same gas mileage as a Stock WS-6. Just put in a supercharger. But that is no way to save your pennies. Don't let anyone tell you a race car isn't for you. I doubt that you are going to go with a good gas mileage car over an exciting muscle car just b\c people say that cars like this aren't good for you. It's your choice. But if i were you, i would go for the 99 Firehawk.
