Service Manual for 68 CJ?
Where can I find a good service manual for this old CJ fastback in teh garage? Nobody drives it because it doesn't work 3/4 of the time, and I'm building the guts to look at it.
The owner bought a service manual but it keeps referring to the CJ as a 429. I know there was a 429 built but this one isn't. It's a 67 fastback with swapped engine. Dunno if it's REALLY TRULY a CJ but that surprise will come later I think. ![]() Any places I can get a good manual?

Can you get any of the numbers off the engine?
There is a ford BB FEforum but off hand I can't remember the website. Can you post a picture or send me a pic of the engine? There was a 429CJ early 70's engine, 428CJ which started in mid 68, 428 which started a few years earlier in Tbirds etc. Many different CJ engines and there's a chance it's a 390. So any info you can provide I'll try to help answer your questions. |

NPD, The Paddock, Dallas Mustang, Autokrafters, etc. Any of these places carry manuals.
To ID your engine, start by looking at the heads and intake. The head casting numbers are between the center 2 exhaust ports. The intake numbers should be on top of one of the runners near the carb. C8OE-N is a CJ head. C8OE-C is a CJ intake |
