Cool Finished: Lamborghini Miura SV

I'm looking forward to the Hasegawa Miura but curiosity got the best of me so I built this combo IMAI/ESCI Miura. One of my all time favorite cars and now one of my favorite models.

Below is a summation of parts used. For years he ESCI kit was the best Miura but the body is not accurate. The IMAI body is great but the interior was bad due to it being a motorized model. The two kits mated together makes a nice one and not too much work involved.

ESCI parts used:
Chassis
Interior except dash
Exhaust
Spinners

IMAI parts used:
Body
Wheels/tires
Dash
Side mirror
Wipers

I also added some etched parts form the Yorozuya set. I had to stretch the wheelbase of the ESCI chassis by relocating the front suspension forward. Also to fit the ESCI chassis it must be trimmed on both ends. The IMAI windows are not very clear so I cut the side windows off. I used BMF Ultra Chrome for the window trim. The car color is a MOPAR color from the 70's called Curious Yellow. Lambo has always used wild colors and that was certainly the era for it. This model depicts a late model Miura, 1970 r '71. Interior is black, and all parts from the ESCI except dash, it is pretty correct.

I was planning to paint detail the raised emblems molded on the body, but I changed colors three times therefor ended up with 11 coats of paint on it. I used etched emblems on the front and side but just sanded the paint off the rear raised ones.

Good work! I believe Fijimi have just released a couple of muira kits one is 1/12 and the other is either 1/24 or 1/16, wonder if they're any good.

Re: Finished: Lamborghini Miura SV

As I clicked on the thread, I thought to myself, "Gee, is the new kit out already?" Well, yours is certainly no worse for wear because of it's age or compostition!

Wow. That's a beautiful piece. Kind of wish we could've seen the interior before it went into the body. But it's a great build.

Miuras are the most beautiful Lamborghinis and one of the last attractive Bertone styled cars. Seeing your model makes me want to build a Miura of my own, and hearing what a pain this build was makes me want to get the Hasegawa kit.

Of course, I most want an Espada. Espadas are cool.

Just beautiful. You really can't tell how much work went into making that kit look as good as it does, which to me is the true mark of craftmanship. Great work!
