I have a 2001 Chevy Blazer LT, 4.3 Vortec TBI, and it's setting a code. I have looked up the code, but I don't know what part(s) to check, etc.
The code is P0449. The translation is: The PCM has determined that a malfunction exists in the electrical circuit for the vent valve/soleniod in the evaporative emission control system. What the HECK is that referring to?! I called the dealer, and the person had NO clue, and wouldn't get someone that knows. All they said was to bring it in! I "Thought" it was the gas cap, so I bought an inexpensive one, and it's still there.. Help Please!! |

Re: Need help with Code...
isn't the vent valve/solinoid just a fancy name for an EGR valve? not 100% but sounds like it to me

Re: Need help with Code...
This problem relates to vapor control in the fuel tank. If, during the self check, the system pressure does not drop, it indicates a leak, setting the code. Ray
