crank pulley question(need answer fast)
i am working on my '90 GSX and changing my water-pump... I am taking off my lower cover tothe timing belt. I have everything off except for the crank pulley. does anyone know how to take it off? thanks

yup
just did it on my GST... you will need another person to help you though(easiest way)! tell them to go inside the car and put the car in fifth (clutch out) and push on the break as hard as they can then put either a breaker bar or a impact wrench in the 1/2" square in the center of the pulley, should unscrew easily with an impact! the pulley should come right off, if it doesnt give it a little tap with a soft headed hammer! good luck! oh and if you want the gear off so you can check your bearing, the bolt that held the crank pulley on and screw it on half way and hit it with a hammer while you have some sort of pry-bar behind the gear, that is a little tougher to get off but it will come! |
