2001 Pathfinder Fuel Filter location?

Hi,

I searched the forums and see one post saying that the 98's fuel filter is located above the rear diff. I am in Canada, and the truck is coated in ice and snow... is my fuel filter in the same location? If not, then where?

Also, for all you Pathfinder owners, how often do you usually change it?

Thanks in advance...

Shneebs.

From looking under my sister's 01 Pathfinder this morning I noticed the fuel filter is also above the rear axle. I am also interested in knowing when to change it as her gas mileage is terrible.

Don't know about anybody else, but I change my fuel filter yearly when I also change spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor, and bi-yearly, I change spark plug wires! There's a few other things that I do yearly, like change pcv valve, and run a high quality fuel system cleaner through the tank - I use BG products, you can find them at most car care stores - ie Napa or others - usually runs around $25 for a bottle of cleaner!

The manual does not actually list a regular interval for fuel filter replacement. Every 50k miles should be adequate. Spark plugs are good for 100k miles. If you change wires, cap, rotor, every year you are either putting a TON of miles on your vehicle, or you don't mind wasting time and $$.

I've changed my fuel filter every 30k on my 97. The spark plugs depends on the year, the older pathys up until the 3.5L introduction run with plain conventional NGK plugs which should be changed every 30k max, only the newer pathfinders had the platinum plugs. Not sure what year switched from conventional to platinum, but the older models seem to run best on the plain NGKs.
