This was about 2 or 3 weeks ago - I pulled up to a stoplight and this black neon pulls up next to me - this cholo with his slut. the light turned green (I had no idea he was gonna try to race me), but I was gonna take off fast anyways because his lane ended about a mile up the road and merged with mine. As soon as the light turned green, I threw it into first, gave it a good amount of gas, let the clutch out fast, got a little burnout, and just revved the hell out of each gear before shifting (stopping about 500 -1500 RPMs shy of redline). At first he was keeping up with me, until we hit about 100 yards then I started to pull away slowly but surely, then at about 400 yards (approximately a 1/4), he probably gave up because his car was getting smaller and smaller in my rearview mirror. I know he was planning on racing me because he had to have peeled out too, and he kinda got like a 3 foot jump on me at first - I thought I was gonna get smoked, but it didn't happen.

Fuck that shit!! Neons are gay! I spanked one a while back, wasn't sure if he was racing too, so I got him at the next light again. Word from the wise: Don't fuck with the SRT. If you see a boost guage through the driver side window, don't run him. Or be prepared to have your ass handed to you.(Like I did) I knew it was coming, I just couldn't help myself.

I want to pull the EX badge off the back of my car too. If I could find a cheap Si front bumper (they put them on all their civics' trims for some reason, but mine has a different front bumper - it doesn't have the two fake vents on the sides, it's just a big box opening with a gridlike grill inside of it.

This one wasn't an SRT - it was a first gen. My car is by no means fast, but obviously this guy had no respect for hondas (probably still doesn't) but oh well.

ISPANKYOURMOM, I thought of taking off my badging too. I even wanted to get some DX mirrors and side molding. But that's coming much later.

What I meant with the SRT, is that like it or not, there are more Civics out there that would lose that race than would win it.

When I raced one, I came up from behind, there was NO wing, and NO badging. Duals, yes, but that was it. When I pulled up to it, all I could see was that boost guage. Trust me, I stared death in the face that night, and that Neon was the reaper.

I sure as hell hope an S4 would beat one. Look, I like my H cars, but Honda needs to do something drastic if we're to run with one of those. We can swap and turbo and all kinds of N2o and shit, but that(SRT) is factory, and under warranty. There's definitely something to be said for that. Holler back

Yeah, but sooner or later that waranty will run out, and probably not long after that, that car will start having frequent problems. When I was shopping around for a car, I was either gonna go Honda Civic, or Acura Integra, or Toyota Celica if I could get a salvaged title Celica with the new body style - not sure what year that this current body style started in, and I swear to you, I had seen a lot of Hondas with over 270k miles on them that started right up, didn't smoke, didn't leak any fluids/oil, ran smoothly, their only faults were a few cosmetic issues like some dents and dings here and there, or their interiors were not in mint condition. I've also heard of Hondas very frequently going to like 325K miles and STILL running (I'm sure that they start to need more and more mechanical attention once they get into that range, but what more can you ask for out of a car?) Not only that, Hondas/Acuras are literally made for engine swapping - if I kept my civic all stock, I could literally drive it til the motor decides to die, and then replace the engine I've got in it right now with the same D16Y8 for like $1500 parts and labor - which is pretty damn cheap for a completed and installed engine. I'm never buying anything but Honda/Acura from now on unless I get rich - then I'll buy a Corvette brand new with as few miles as possible on it - but until then- or until GM learns to make a reliable car, and staff it's dealerships with competent mechanics and staff, I'm strictly going Honda/Acura. I'd much rather help out a corporation based here then one 5,000 miles away, but the consumer has gotta do what's best for him/her.

srt 4's most of them on the streets are owned by younger guys ive seen alot of them get spanked by gsr's with slight mods like intake header exhust. alot of people will launch to hard and spin through first and second and end up losing so its not only the car but driver that can make a difference.

IM jus pulling the BS flag unless you can pull yourself outta this one... and o yea integras with a few mods beating srt-4s be serious I see srt-4s spank preludes all day even if the srt got a bad launch i mean the srt-4 has like 230hp and 245tq.... a gsr w/ bolt ons only pushes around 190 ish to the crank be serious for real buddy...

hehe i think they run mid to low 14s in an srt
ITRs run high 14s and the gsr is nowhere near that
i don't like dodge much but respect must be given where it is needed
props to Daimler-Chrylser-Mopar for finally putting more hp into their cars ie: Ram hemi and of course the Viper
but the Neon is still a Neon
and it rattles like heel....try to find a single noise in and RSX-S or a 5th gen Lude
i don;t think so....none but the sweet sound of high cam VTEC engagement.....
