compression vs. boost

i know that if you want to run a high boost, you should lower the compression as to avoid detonation. i was wondering though, is there any type of equation or written rule as to the compression ratio to the amount of boost being used? i was wondering because i plan on getting an acura vigor and the USDM G25A motor comes w/ about 9.0:1 compression ratio and the JDM G25A comes w/ about 10.0:1 compression ratio (aiding in the 14 extra HP over the USDM). eventually, i plan on building my motor to safely handle 20 psi on race days. would that 10.0 compression ratio be too much for 20 psi to handle? what do you recommend as a good compression ratio (so that i wouldn't loose that much bottom end power)?

|ps| what is a safe difference to run boosts? i.e. would 12 psi daily and 20 psi when racing be too much of a difference on my motor?

I would reccomend sticking with the USDM, the boost will make up for the loss in power and you wont have as hard a time with reliability. Either way to run 20psi you'll have to do a whole bottom end build anyway, so whatever motor you pick just use 9.0:1 pistons when you do the forged internals.
