Exclamation 305 help.

Hello I have a 305 that for some reason dies when the RPM's get below around 750 Usually they don't even get below 1000. It was doing the same thing a couple months ago and it turned out to be the choke.
Another thing is that I have to find a certain spot in the gas pedal to get my car to even accelerate otherwise it just struggles to move. Flooring my gas pedal does nothing either.
Any help would be appreciated
Thank You

Re: 305 help.

what year is your car? Carb or fuel injected? If it's a carb, you need to tune it or it needs rebuilt. If it's fuel injected your TPS is gone bad.

Thank you very much. I took it in and I was told it needed a new carb. By the way it is an 84, carbed.

Re: 305 help.

I got an 84 , had the car start acting real bad like that . Got the carb rebuilt and that fixed it . Been running good for 2 years now , well till now. Choke is starting to act up. If I beat on it with my pocketknife it fixes for like a day or so. Think just the motor thing is shorting out. Its trying to choke the carb whenever I hit the gas and it stays choked even after its warmed up. damn quadrajets.

Re: 305 help.

vlad you better watch yourself. I might not have my monster in my car anymore but she's not completly dead. She's just really sick. I havn't given up on the 305 and untill I do I'll defend them till I'm blue in the face. So c'mon say something else...LOL

Re: 305 help.

you can get a 305 in a box? that must be a strong ass box ;-).

I am having somewhat the same problem with my 84 HO. but its in winter storage right now. Think ill jsut get a new carb. want a new one anyways.

lol its not a boat anchor, you jsut have to drive it right. Ie: only in first gear. lol
