turbo give good power gain?

Ok I am planning on building up a d series block for turbo. I was talking to my dad who use to be a mechanic and he said a turbo charger only increases the HP by about 25%. He use to be a mech back in the early 70's. If I am correct can't a turbo charger can increase a motor by like 300%?

Re: turbo give good power gain?

increase in hp depends on how big the turbo is/boost your going to have.

Re: turbo give good power gain?

i dont know how much additional hp/torque thats gona add. but if your going 20 psi, your gona have to build up your internals for that kinda boost.

Re: Re: Re: turbo give good power gain?

the more cfm that the turbos flows into your chanbers the more hp you will make , the higher psi the more air will flow the stronger your motor is the more air can flow and the bigger the turbo can be, so if you are getting alot more air then stock out put then you can double your hp or more..

Re: turbo give good power gain?

Turbos can increase power by 430958384758435% as long as the engine can handle it...and before you go setting your boost to enough PSI to make that much % of a gain realize I am being sarcastic. but yeah...maybe back in 1970 they made 25% but nowadays you can make a hell of alot more than that.

300% is alot. I'd say 50%-75% on a standard to mid sized turbo.

Re: turbo give good power gain?

Huge windshield banners and APC stickers are known to increase your HP by 25%. Why not cover up your whole car with APC stickers??
