The intake manifold has a leak and the coolant that comes out steams off and never leaves a puddle on the ground. I have opened the cooling system check valve and their is no air in the system. Has anyone else experienced this problem. I understand that the leaking intake is beginning to be a trend with the Series II engines (it was repaired once under warranty as were other problems that are problems once again - of course not under warranty now!). Thanks for any help.

The GM 3800 Series II suffers from a plastic intake manifold leak which is prone to break down around the ERG stove pipe and flood the engine and hydro lock the block. GM has an upgraded instake manifold design which has a brass sleeve to protect the plastic from breaking down.
Only fix is to replace this with the updated part, as well as new coolant, new plugs, and in my case the MAP sensor as well. Cost of job for me was about $550.00
