Re: blazer top speed 67mph

ok, first of all is it a manual trans or auto? (i'm assuming manual)....when you put it into neutral does the engine rev up as normal? i know you don't wanna spend any money on it but when was the last tune up it had? sounds dumb but it could cause that....and maybe even timing? is the TBI good and clean or all gummed up? and last but not least....fuel filter, could be plugged up a little, especially with it sitting, getting moisture in the tank, etc. Hope that helped a bit.

sounds like you need to visit a transmission shop...5th is an overdrive that in your case doesn't sound like its engaging properly, specially if it set for a will something could be gummed up.

Re: Re: blazer top speed 67mph

well the only thing I havent done as far as a tune up is a new fuel filter when I got it top speed was 50 mph I did a tune up minus the fuel filter I forgot about it dumb move I know the intake and the tbi was black inside so I took it apart and cleaned it so it looked almost brand new infact when I went to the part store the guy asked when I bought the tbi unit I do have one other question do you think it might be the clutch cuz I think its a pile of junk and its problem time for an oil change I havent done that yet and I only put 18000 miles on it hehe

Re: blazer top speed 67mph

Why do people waste time insulting other peoples rides/questions? There is a off topic section in this forum for that. To jshort-the first thing I would do is change the fuel filter and then check the fuel pressure. If you had a clutch slip problem the engine would be turning about 7000 rpm and you would be going nowhere. Basic diagnostics is the thing here, did the truck run before it was parked,or is that why it was sitting? There are a lot of people out there that can install hotrod parts, follow the directions, and still have no clue of how it all works.

under most circumstances most of us here wouldnt, but when you have someone so childish as to post about their S-10 doing 180 mph, its hard to resist. no, its not this thread, but its one of his others.

bottom line, tell childish tales and receive childish/insulting answers and/or responses.

Didn't see that thread, but it looked liked a legitimate question to me.I am new here, and I can't understand why people waste their time with childess answers, kind of like I am doing now.

Re: blazer top speed 67mph

personally i think that because the guy doesn't have 8 zillion horsepower people just can't believe it will go fast. i've said it once and i'll say it again, it all has to do with gear ratio's, tire size, and things of the like. Yes i will say that it might take 20 miles to achieve this speed but it's not as impossible as people think....either way the whole point is that he asked a question, and everyone missed the point and jumped all over it.

Fox and Bronco

I thank you for your wise words and your about my truck its all top end gears and as for the blazer I think I got to replace the whole fuel line its rusted pretty bad and I dont want to bend it if I dont have another but tryin to get in off I may have bent it a little cuz now for some reason even going down hill if I throw it in 4th and get it up to 67mph and throw it back in 5th still going downhill it slows down it seems to sit at about 2k rpm in 5th no higher Im begining to think even thou it was free it was a bad investment

thanks again guys
