97 taurus wagon engine & oil change
I just purchased this car & I have 2 dumb questions. How do I know if I have a 3.0 liter Duratec or Vulcan engine?? I want to do an oil change, Should I, a) put the car up on 2 ramps or B) jack up whichever side of the car the drain plug is on ( by the way, which side of the pan or car is the drain plug on) Many thanks.

Put the car up on ramps. You never want to get under a car with just a jack holding it up. Jackstands are mandatory if you don't use a ramp. You not only need to get to drain plug, but to oil filter also. So ramps will give you the most room to work with.

Re: 97 taurus wagon engine & oil change
what model do you have?
drain plug would be on the driver side (hmmm... like middle part) pretty sure, you're not gonna miss that. I agree, ramp would b the best tool... |
