Re: BTW does anyone know how to tune more hp from an NA without dropping in a turbo?
start with either SRI (Short Ram Intake) or CAI (Cold Air Intake)... that's always the best mod to put on first... Follow that up with a good catback exhaust system (such as the one released by Mussa Racing)... if you're a true tuner then the next place I'd go is for traction and less rotating mass... in other words get yourself some bad ass tires mounted on the lightest rims you can find (10-12 lbs each w/o tire is usually pretty decent but I've seen some EXPENSIVE racing wheels at around 7 lbs each!) After that it's time to get into some real money.... go for an engine oil cooling system and, if you're running an auto tranny, a tranny-fluid cooler. Cowl induction/ram air hoods and upgrading your radiator are usually a good idea as well... if you want to check out everything I plan to do to my '03 Tib go to my website at http://www.adam-hunsicker.com and check out the Modifications section under "2003 Tuscani". If you have any other questions feel free to drop me an email at [email protected]

Re: BTW does anyone know how to tune more hp from an NA without dropping in a turbo?
Thanks man for the info and for the advice, I checked out your page yesterday and saved it on my favorites.
Anyway the reason I asked was that I wanted to tune more hp from my Tib, but I didn't want to install a turbo yet for two reasons, money and turbo lag |

IMHO.....Dont waste money on an N/A 4 cyl. Just save the money and turbo it. If you have the right turbo....lag is not an issue. Even if it was, lag will pay for itself on the top end. Put an exhaust on for now because you will need it later, dont buy an intake because a turbo will need a totally different one. Seriously....just save the money until you can do it right.

well that may be true, but I'm really want the immediate response time from the N/A.

if i were you, id save and go turbo, since the beta doesnt respond well to n/a mods but does respond very well to boost.
a few people hve gotten into the 14s without boosting or nitrous though, however, they have easily spent what a turbo system would cost. CAI header exhaust high grip clutch bored block high compression bored pistons cams to match pistons(you will have a very rough idle though) haltech fuel system you could get your crank knife edged and balanced LSD port and polish every possible thing the list goes on and on here is a thread http://hyundaiperformance.com/forums/topic.php?t=43221 |

Re: BTW does anyone know how to tune more hp from an NA without dropping in a turbo?
I understand the concern due to the commute so stick with the things I mentioned above... all of it should be compatible w/your later addition of a turbo except for the intake... but you can do like I did and make one for all of about $35... as far as lag is concerned... don't worry about it. With the auto as soon as you're spooled up your not going to lose boost because you don't have to let off the gas until the race is over.

Re: BTW does anyone know how to tune more hp from an NA without dropping in a turbo?
that's a damn good point Adam. That makes me think about the turbo a bit more.
On a side note tho, from the NA cars I've gone up against it's been pretty sweet, but this isn't the board for it

Re: BTW does anyone know how to tune more hp from an NA without dropping in a turbo?
because I took the one I had in my Ford Ranger, cut it in half, welded a small piece of tubing I had laying around on it and installed it in my tibby.
![]() btw, I just uploaded two new pics... one for the girls (a pic of me, LOL) and one for the guys (you can figure it out. )
