Running accessories out of the pickup bed
Anyone know what to do in order to run and install a 12v accessories electrical outlet to the truck bed? And any special precautions needed to make it waterproof?
I have a 2000 Silverado 4x4, and was thinking it would be a good idea to run a 12v electrical cooler out of the bed, as well as other accessories. |

Hey Bungee,
They make waterproof (and even stainless) outlets for boats complete with rubber sealed caps. Just go to a marine store and take a look. All you'd have to do is run a fused 10 or 12 guage wire to the battery, install the plug where you want it and ground it to the body or frame. Piece of cake. I'm going to be doing the same thing on my truck for things like air mattress compressors and spotlights on camping trips. Hope this helps! |
