Re: Best SYSTEM FOR UNDER $400?????
Since 3 1/2 is not a common size, you are probably going to have to go with at least 4s

Re: Best SYSTEM FOR UNDER $400?????
No offense, but audiobahn speakers generally have a low RMS and since they are rated in pairs, I would rather pick up some CDT 4"s and cut the extra. I would also pick up some CDT 6.5s I have a pair and they are phenominal.

Re: Best SYSTEM FOR UNDER $400?????
I was just saying that they make them since there hard to find if that's what the size has to be.(They are low 65 RMS for the pair) I'm all about the infinity components.... now if only bose made aftermarket products wow.

Re: Best SYSTEM FOR UNDER $400?????
Let me hear the angry post because while I will agree with you that bose is way overpriced the sound quality is some of the best I've heard especially considering that they only make stock systems.

Re: Best SYSTEM FOR UNDER $400?????
Most of my hatred is towards their HT department, but the car audio section sucks almost as bad and follows many of the same ideas and principles that make them so bad in HT. I'm sorry but if you think their HT or car audio setups have good sound quality, you REALLY need to find someone with a remotely decent setup that you can hear. I'm not talking anything fancy, hell a decent aftermarket system that costs >$700 will be better than any stock system Bose coughs up, not to mention the fact that Bose systems can't be upgraded at all without replacing the entire damn thing.
As for their HT department....Bose does not use high quality components in their speakers, in fact they use some of the cheapest parts available and then jack the price up 10x their cost. Hell, anyone who claims to reproduce the audio accurately for an entire room and only uses 4 1.5" speakers and a small sub, and then charges $1700 for it diserves a swift kick in the nuts, I don't care what company it is. Their entire goal is to fool the person into thinking the music is full, loud, and accurately reproduced instead of actually making the sound full, loud, and accurately reproduced with quality parts instead of using 1 - A sub port that's tuned high to make the bass peaky in the 80Hz range to appear louder 2 - Midrange speakers that are engineering to be peaky in the 3000Hz range to appear louder and more dynamic If you don't believe me just read ANY of their product descriptions with an open mind and you'll see what I mean. Just look at this and tell me this can actually sound good ![]() Their car systems have very similar response curves, they just have breaks where nothing can be heard, the bass is peaky in the 80Hz range and there is nearly NOTHING below 50Hz except for distortion coming out of the "sub" mounted in the rear deck. You don't have to take my word for all of this, go to any car audio or HT forum and run a quick search for Bose to read their opinions.

Wow, can't say I have ever heard much of a bashing on bose systems before, but since it is you I would assume you are right.

Re: Best SYSTEM FOR UNDER $400?????
haha, don't just take my word for it because it's me (although it's appreciated
)check out http://www.intellexual.net/bose.html, I know it's long but it's an interesting read and well worth it and run a quick search for "bose" on www.caraudioforum.com to get a little taste of how they're looked at (this thread comes to mind)
