clicking noise from steering shaft

2000 Cavalier

Clicking noise from the steering shaft...comes and goes. Happens when truning the steering wheel. I can also feel the click in the break pedal.

any ideas what this could be ?

is it when its really cold out? And does it just do it when your not moving (like your turning around, or doing a 3 point turn?) b/c my grand am has the same problem but i cant figure out what it is.

yea when not moving too fast...like when when truning into my driveway...or just turning the wheel when stopped..it seems to happen in cold or warm weather
