Unhappy Mark VIII in trouble

I bought a 1995 Mark VIII a few months ago and have recently began to have trouble shifting. It's an automatic, but it's super hard to get the car out of park. And now the dumb thing is getting this icky little noise occasionally when I get to about 35 mph's and it tries to shift. Anyone out there have a similar experience? Or does anyone know how much a transmission will cost for it?

Without having it here its very hard to diagnose. We do have a bulletproof 4R70W complete with 2400 stall speed converter for $1650.00.
