Thumbs up Me and an E46 M3

Well, this was the moment I had been waiting for, forget the Mustang GT's, the boxster, the integras, and numerous other cars that I have beaten. I put my 8-1 record on the line last night(only defeat came against some seriously bad ass 5.0 stang). I know the array of cars I have raced are not that great but I have to take what people will give me and I have wanted to run against a car of this calliber for a long time comming.

I pulled up to a light that turns on to a road that is a 65 mph speed limit. What do ya know! there is an M3, my favorite car. the light turns green and I start to mess around with it, speeding up and slowing down a couple of times thinking that this dude isn't going to run with me. Well the second time that I went to slow down my man punched it! OHHHHHHH shit it's on! I slam it in to third as we were going about 55mph. BTW I didn't think it was very fair of him to take off while I was slowing down , I'm playin'. It's not like it would have mattered for me.

I redline it, take it to fourth but the Mother F***** keeps pulling so damn hard! Damn those things are fast. We went to 120 and he had about 3 cars on me, hard to tell when you're going that fast. Either way I got my ass handed to me on a silver plate, ironically I enjoyed the loss more than anyother race I have had.

Here is the deal, I believe the M3 was an SMG cuz I couldn't tell when it would shift(or the driver was really good) According(no pun intended) to this dyno chart of an M3 SMG it runs at 263.2hp and 223 trq. It also weighs a touch over 3400lbs
http://rwagner42.brinkster.net/images/dyno_20021011.jpg

My car runs 217 hp stock and 195 trq stock. In theory my CAI claims with dyno proof of a 15whp gain. My Magnaflow cat-back claims 6whp. Now we all know it doesn't really work like that so for good measure lets add those numbers together and divide them by two to get ~11. This puts me at 228whp and probably around 200 trq (I might try to dyno it this weekend to check). I am also a little over a 100 lbs lighter.

So the question here is does an extra 100lbs and 35 hp really make the car that much more than 3 cars difference in a span of 65mph???

You guys can be the judge.

Re: Me and an E46 M3

It could have been four, I'm not sure. I didn't have time to ask the guy if he would mind staying put long enough for me to get out my tape measure to get an accurate reading...

He DID run against the 333HP M3. New one= E46. Old one= E36.

If he had ran against the older ones, they'd be even, or he might've been a bit ahead.

Lastly, a 240-crank-HP car (E36 M3) will not put out 263WHP.

Re: Me and an E46 M3

Not whipping out the BS. But I am damn surprised at that dyno number on the M3. That means the bimmer is losing like 70 horsepower from the crank to the wheels! That seems pretty bad for a car or BMW caliber...

Re: Me and an E46 M3

Well, Im afraid to say this, but an accord v6 03-04 is no match against a bmw m3, NO MATCH. 3 cars seem TOO little to me. I dont care who was driving the m3, but if you have an m3 i bet you know how to drive well. Im not saying its bullshit, I just dont understand how that happened.

Im basing my statement on previous experiences with those cars. I have raced an automatic (5spd) accord v6 from a stop light, and with my car I beat it to 60 mph. After 60mph, it started to gain on me but not very fast...When i raced an m3 from a roll, mmm what can i say...10 cars by the end of 90mph, or 13 cars...??

M3 runs very low 13s, on the 1/4 mile. It could drop to the high 12s. While an accord runs high 14s. So...No match whatsoever.

Re: Me and an E46 M3

It's a sad day, I dynoed my car at lunch today and it ran 216Whp and 194 trq. If I use Injen's base line run of my car my mods have given me 23Whp.. M3 was prolly messin with me, oh well. Back to the Garage. I was hopin' for the 228.

Here is the post regarding my dyno if you guys want to comment:
