Dyno on my 6spd!
Well, here is the good the bad and the ugly...
I used a third gear rolling test three times. I chose 3rd gear because that is what Injen used to dyno my intake. This way I could get an idea of how much power my cat-back gave. I dynoed in 3rd @ 216Whp and 194trq. I ran one dyno in 4th and it came up with 212Whp. I was a little disapointed in the 4th gear test. Either way Injen baselined the car in the 3rd gear roll at 193Whp so if I look at it like that I have gained 23Whp with my intake and exhaust. I also had them check if I was running rich or lean with my new mods. It turns out I am running at a 12.2:1. They told me to get a v-afc controller, configure it to run at 13.1 and I could get another 4-6hp out of it. I can even turn v-tec on earlier, ehich I am considering turning it on about 400 RPM's earlier... comments??? I'll keep you guys posted and eventually get the dyno uploaded to the web. What do you guys think, are they throwin' BS at me about the v-afc???

Re: Dyno on my 6spd!
Honda_99 what is your personal opinion on the v-afc? One guy in there said they were worthless, while everyone else praised them. I was running 89 Octane on the dyno if it really matters ( $1.69 a gallon, I'm too cheap to pay another 10cents
). I'm going to get the v-afc unless you guys don't think I should.

Re: Dyno on my 6spd!
i wouldn't advise you messing with the vtec engagement point. Honda at that specific point for a reason, don't you think honda would of made it sooner if it was for the better?

Re: Dyno on my 6spd!
I agree that Honda put it there for a reason. After doing some reading, if I choose to change it I will make it engage at 4700 RPM's. Apparently this is where Honda is engaging it in the new TL's. This would only change the engagement by 300 RPM's. SUpposedly it will bog the engine if you change it to much.

Re: Dyno on my 6spd!
Honda sets VTEC engagement at perfect point for setup that come out factory but when people start to install exhausts, intakes, camshaft and forced induction stuff that point is no longer there, so that is where VAFC come into play.
I personally think if VAFC professionally tunned you’ll be fine. I need to install VAFC on my car, because fuel mixture is no longer correct after install J32A2 camshafts and move VTEC engagement point closer to CL-S have.

Re: Dyno on my 6spd!
as far of gas octain, i think 89 is waste of money. its half way between 87 & 91, but price is closer to 91 octain, at least in my area.

Re: Dyno on my 6spd!
I just asked the guy at the shop if I could dyno in 3rd because that was the gear that Injen used when testing their intake. He was surprised that we got a different number than when we dynoed in 4th. I also looked for the gearing ratios in my car manual but couldn't find them. So I don't even know which gear is 1:1 but I am pretty sure it isn't 3rd.
Injen dynoed the car in 3rd @ 193 and TOV dynoed the car @194 and then again @ 217. TOV didn't state which gear they ran the test in and what mods were on the car other than the factory air box was removed.

Also, can my engine handle running a lean 13:1 from 5k to 6.7k RPM? It was running 10.9 to 11.9 in that range.
