15" winter rims
Does anyone know if, and where I can aquire four steel 15" winter rims for the 2000 Grand Vitara? They would need to fit 205/65R15 tires.
Thanks in advance. -Gallie |

First thing I did, google took me here, not sure I want to go e-Bay. I guess what I'm really asking is whether all 5 hole 15 inch wheels are compatible or are there different size holes, distance between the holes, etc. Thanks for the reply.

Well heres what I know about our rims.
they are 5 x 5.5(139.7) lug pattern and have a center bore of 108. The offset is what I'm not sure on, but I know you have to make sure you get ones that the spokes come out from the center pretty far so that they clear the caliper. Hopes that helps?

Re: 15" winter rims
While it does help, I went to a Suzuki dealer this morning and he explained that for the Grand Vitara I NEED 16" wheels. The caliper will touch most 15"ers. Anyone interested in 4 Bridgestone Blizzaks with less than 3000Km on them? :-)

Re: 15" winter rims
Your dealer is wrong.
The Chevrolet Tracker is built by Suzuki as a clone of the Vitara, and comes with 15" rims as standard. Pick up a set of those, and if they don't fit, you're not driving a Vitara. |

I think the stock 15" Tracker rims are a different offset than the stock Vitara 16's
I've heard of ppl putting 15's on there Vitara but they had to try a bunch of different rims to find one that fits.

The offset is the same on the stock 15" Tracker rim. Period. They can't goof around with the offset too much because it affects braking and the ABS computers nowadays. I feel sorry for these guys lowering their Vitaras and sticking on rims with a retarded offset; say goodbye to your bearings, and any sort of control in a panic brake situation........................... |

Re: 15" winter rims
I would really like to know if there is a 15" option to fit the GV, but so far, I have had NO luck fitting rims due to the high performance brakes on the GV. I know trackers are the tuned down, watered down version of the GV, but that doesn't necessarily mean all parts are a straight across fit.
Really...if there is a 15" option to fit the GV I want to know. I'm trying to get a traction tire to fit my 16" rims and right now the only thing that has worked is a 225/75/R16, just barely fits in the fenders. I live on 6 miles of Idaho mountain roads, if I don't use a 6 ply traction tire, I'm just asking for flat tires...

Re: 15" winter rims
The humongous lift isn't an option, I'm the one driving the Cherokee, the GV belongs to my wife. These things are tippy enough without skyjacking them!
Really, my wife wouldn't go for it, I just need to either find a low profile traction tire or a 15" rim that will fit. I'm planning on trying the Tracker rim mentioned above, but I don't know...

I really hope you're not basing this on wht your friends have told you and/or Consumers Union's report of the SAMURAI. The Tracker/Vitara is more stable than the Samurai due to a longer and wider wheelbase. HOWEVER, the Samurai outperformed all the other vehicles CU tested but yet they still gave it a "Dangerous Vehicle" rating. Also, Suzuki just won their 8 year long lawsuit against CU for their rating of the Samurai. Sorry, I get into arguements all the time over this. People have a misconception that that Trackers/Vitara's roll easily because of bogus rumors and heresy. These vehicles are just the opposite. I'm sorry, but I can take a 20mph 90 degree turn at 65mph without losing traction and keeping all four wheels on the ground...
