Tranny won't shift from park

On my '94 626, the shifter will move, but the gear indicator doesn't move from park, and tranny doesn't move out of park either. It's acting like the shifter linkage is busted. I've been told that some foreigns have a button that 'resets' the shifter. Is there such a thing? Where is it? If that's not the case, has anyone had any experience here? Any help is appreciated.

Your shift cable has probably popped off/broken off at the base of your shifter. You'll have to remove the center console to investigate further.
