2002 Sable Won't Shift From Park
I have an '02 Sable w/ about 48,000 miles. Starts fine, but auto transmission won't shift from park, even with the brake applied. Can override by having car on, applying parking brake, shutting off, then turning key to on position. Fuse good, and replaced the relay switch for cruise control/brake release, but nothing changed. NEED SUGGESTIONS

My 2001 sable had the same problem. It was corrected changing the brake light switch that is mounted in the brake pedal.
This fail is under "recall" issued by Ford-Mercury, you can take your car to the Dealer to repair it free of charge. If you want to repair it yourself, the part costs about $ 10 Dlls. and it is very easy change it.
