93 suburban won't start

Have a 93 suburban that won't start. Checked for spark and it is good. Did not hear fuel pump at start as usual. replaced fuel pump relay to no avail. Have just finished fuel pump replacemnt. Can now hear pump when key is turned but still will not start. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks

Re: 93 suburban won't start

i have a 94 suburban and i have never heard my fuel pump run at start! Anyway check for fuel at the carb or throttle body whichever u have if u have tbi then check for fuel injector fuse or possible bad injectors? GOOD LUCK!

Re: 93 suburban won't start

Make sure you have fuel flowing from injectors first. Have someone watch the injectors when you try to start the vehicle. If you have fuel and spark (at the plugs, importantly) then have the fuel pressure tested. Aftermarket and other-brand fuel pumps will not last whatsoever. Mine went out in less than six months. It hurt, but if in doubt, go with GM.

Re: 93 suburban won't start

Try spraying starting fluid in the throttle body if it starts it's your fuel system obviously. Make sure you changed the fuel filter when you changed the fuel pump as well as the strainer, cheap insurance. If that is doesn;t seem to be it, check the wiring to the fuel pump and as a rule of thumb never run the tank emply or close to empty regularly, because the fuel is what keeps the pump cool, most pumps overheat and die prematurely because of this.
