While changing the plugs on my 94 T-bird I found that all four plugs on the left side of the engine had oil in them. Can it be anything else other than the pistons?

worn valve seals or a leaking head gasket. Make sure your oil has no water in it and that your coolant has no oil. If it is bad valve seals
its not so bad, either a valve job or a hot plug to aid in the burning of the oil with the fuel can take care of the problem. If oil is found in the radiator,or water is found in your oil a head gasket may be your problem. It takes a lot of missed oil changes and miles to wear out the rings in a modern engine . |

Re: Oil in plugs, PLEASE HELP
Quote:
As mentioned above, it may be a head gasket. But that usually only effects on cylinder. Give us some history on the problem! It may help narrow the problem down a bit!

I also have a 94 4.6 with the exact same problem (drivers side). I was told by a mechanic who I consider very knowledgeable that it is a common problem and a very simple fix. He said the oil only gets on the plugs as you're removing them. This is because the oil is coming from the valve cover gasket then dripping down into the hemi style plug hole. I haven't tried to fix mine yet. Let me know what you determine.
