Max with Headers!!!

Here are two vids showing a Max running headers, listen to the sound and tell me what you think.

I think it is an awesome thing to sound like a muscle car.

man this sounds real good .. do you have the time to update me with the mods you have and all exhaust parts you have added. i like this !

in the first clip when you are zooming away almost of of the camera, man now that was music .

i have the injen intake, warpspeed y pipe, custom maxima racing pipe with resonator, warpspeed b pipe with resonator and magnaflow race series muffler. wondering how much different our setups are what the headers would make my max sound like. let me know ..this is good stuff

just watched second clip, saw the dual exhaust ..and tripped out on that idle ! do you have jwt cams ? and that rev ... what tha ? now that is bad as it can get ! mad props !

First off this isn't my car, this is Ironlung's whip from Maxima.org

He has JWT Cams and from what I've read he had runs with Open Headers and no catback, so that is why it doesn't sound the way it really should until he does everything up right.

I just posted this here so that everyone can see that JWT has the cams.

Here is some more info:

i believe the 95-01 share the same engine internals. the jwt website lists ONE set of cams for the vq30de only:

S1 VQ30DE BILLET CAM SET 256 DEG .415" GROSS LIFT. LASH .013" COLD .016" HOT SLIGHT LOPE AT IDLE (TARGET IDLE SHOULD BE 900RPM). RUNS...

Only difference between the vq30de and vq30de-k should be slighty different timing, but i'm fairly sure cams would work

2k2-2k3 vq35de guys have their own set of cams from jwt and also from nismo (350z)



You can adjust the idle on our cars to give it more of the lumpy idle but I'm not sure if he intends to do that or just leave it as is and hook back up his catback and close the headers.

I will update you guys as he updates the org. I posted it here for most of you guys that don't go over to the org.

He doesn't really need a Resonator, he just needs to do as I stated above, he is going to post some more vids later once he gets everything done.

For those who don't go over to the org, I will bring the vids here. Those headers he has already incorporates a Y-pipe integrated into them so there is no need to go and buy one.

Also with the header application (which is great for those using N20) he will probably be boosting and we should see some impressive runs.

He has 2 dyno plots over on the org that shows an awesome increase in power, so they really do work, not like the Stealin's Headers which have been shown by Dyno to actually make your car lose power.

If your into that kinda thing its cool, but I dont like the sound
especially on Maximas. I think it would be a better suited sound
on a Camaro or something. That Maxima looks just like our 98
minus the ground effects and exhausts. His car looks awesome
though.

Well I like how it sounds on the first clip when it is accelerated, but I wouldn't like my max to idle like that!!! It's too much! I'm sure the "honeys" wouldn't like to be in that car for a night out partying.

Of course it does right now in some spots and that is only until he finishes off the rest of the system. Wait until he finishes it all off and then you can judge for yourself whether or not it really sounds good or not.

I think it sounded awesome in some spots but in others it sounded like a dying elephant, I can't wait until he has it all done up right and then if or once he posts the vids I will bring them back here for you all to judge, maybe we'll even do a poll.

Its funny seeing a maxima "lope" like that. I dig it though. I love a nice lumpy cam though. I think Iron lungs car sounds really good, maybe a little loud...but just think how it would sound with an Apexi WS...mmm

It sounds like he's running an Injen or a Frankencar intake. I like the lumpy sound, but the way he has it set up is too lumpy. You can't even hear the headers WOT, so he better get a nice idle set-up ofr the headers are for shit as far as sounds.
