Just got a 98 olds cutlass (like the chevy malibu) I noticed the rear brake/parking/turn signal lights on the left (drivers side) are dimmer than the right side. All of them. Could this be a rusty connection in the trunk on the drivers side or could all those lights about to take a dirt nap? Seems funny that the whole cluster is dimmer than the passenger cluster of lights. Thanks!

Re: 98 Old Cutlass Rear Lights
To take out the cluster and check, just undo some of the plastic wing nuts on the inside of the trunk. Then push away the trunk cloth, and (I can't remember if there are other plastic wing nuts behind the cloth), the unit pushes away from the body.
I noticed when replacing a bulb in the passenger side, that there was water near the bottom (I've had to replace the passenger side turn signal light twice (the only bulb to go out)). The connector for that specific bulb was quite rusty. But you can check to see if your connectors are rusty. It's not hard to do. Tim |
