Spanked a supercharged LS1 Z28

Yeah right suckers, I'm not even lucky enough to see nice cars like that just driving around. No, I was just driving around tonight. It was dead just like a wednsday night should be. And a truck(big deal, I know, you can stop reading if you want, wont hurt my feelings) went speeding by me. It was nice looking 2001 or so single cab(Sierra maybe?) with maybe 17s. And he was up there at a red light stopped and as I was almost to a stop next to him it turned green, so I rolled by in 2nd at like 5 miles an hour and started to accelerate normally when I heard him accelerate and then put it into overdrive. So i floored it at about 2000-2500 and he was ahead till 3rd when i caught up, then I double clutched(j/k), I just powershifted like usual, almost shifted at 7, but stayed till 8 (and really pulled in that short 1k to 8), then took off in 4th, and gave up at like 115, (didnt feel like hitting 5th), but maybe he gave up too, so who knows. Since I see so many trucks around here I just thought Id give it ago especially since he called me on, and it kinda got my girl excited. Anyways, with a burnt oil smell running through my car, I went home after that, wanted to wave or nod, but figured he might not get the right idea and think I was being a prick about it flippin him off or something, so just turned left casually at the next light. Sadly enough no more action for the night, not even my girl... . Im tired as hell though. Just curious does anyone know what they run, I know its not a big deal that I won, most trucks arent meant to race, but he did put up a good fight(props to him, nice lookin/sounding truck too and he seemed cool about it, no finger or peeling out atleast)... maybe if it was an SS or a lightning or even an SRT10... watch out for those, but I was just curious what numbers he'd put up.

*I was gonna say...* yeah, the LS1 thing had me all up and ready to shoot you down in flames, lol

you don't know what kind of truck it is at all? in all honesty though, trucks these days are pretty quick. my dad has a '98 Sierra that I have added a few performance items to (exhaust, air intake, throttle body spacer, electronic shift improver...) and that thing will just stomp the piss out of my Civic, I mean it isnt even funny! the only thing I can do that it can't is go over 100 mph which I rarely do anyway... but yeah that is a regular cab step side with 15x10 wheels and a rather torquey 350 so it will eat my car for breakfast off the line and it has 250 stock hp, maybe another 20 or so with what I did to it, granted thats only around 270 hp or so it is still fast for what it is

if you attempted to match up against a Lightning it doesnt surpise me that it would outrun you... I don't know what you drive or anything but those are impressive trucks, I love them to death and that says a lot since it is a FORD... probably the only Ford I would take pride in owning!

bottom line, newer full size trucks are not as slow as some people may think they are, esp if you are talking a regular cab short bed that is nice and light (as far as a full size truck goes)

I couldn't tell really if it was a 1500 or 2500 or whatever the differentiation is. It was just a sierra or silverado single/reg cab short bed with atleast an exhaust and dropped on 17s. You are right, it was pretty quick though. A lightning would stomp me, but I know it wasnt one of those. What sucks is right as the the truck flew past me I was coming up on a silver RX-8. He unfortunatly turned, but I thought it would have been fun to mess around, just to see what they can do. Id take an RX-7 over the RX-8 anyday though.

I have a feeling people are gonna come in here mad about the title. I probly shouldnt have done that, but "Me vs 3 ton truck" just didnt have the same ring to it. No offense to any domestics, I fully understand the capabilites of the LT1 and the LS1. The LS1 Z28 is actually a car i plan on owning later on, but Ill still have my teg.

Those Hemi Ram's are very quick trucks, just look at the commercials! But seriously, this dude who came into my work had a nice new black one and we yapped for a long time - he said his old 5.9L Ram was a complete pushover compared to his hew 5.7 Hemi Ram. The dude goes, "only a Viper and a Corvette can beat my truck in a race" - like the guy has ever raced either one! But anyways, ya, his truck hauled ass. He gunned it out of the crowded parking lot like a true asshole/loser but I must say after the tires hooked up from his brakestand the truck got pretty small pretty fast.

Not to totally usurp this bogus thread, but those new Ford pickups look terrific outside and the interior is simply awesome - no more bad-ass looking truck from the outside but pure shit/plastic/10-year old design on the inside. You're definitely right that the big V8's are towey but not geared for high speeds (I mean gearing literally as well as head design - although the Hemi heads are where the Rams get their 350 HP from). Aerodynamics ain't the greatest as well, and weight. But the 5.4L V8 in the new Ford trucks is basically the same block that was used in the new Ford GT supercar (which also got a supercharger). So you figure you could do a LOT of tinkering with that base, eh??

another truck to look out for is the 02-03 f-150 harley davidson edition that ford put out. They are supercharged from the factory.with a few minor bolt on they can run with and even beat a lighting.
