It's been a while... (yet another Tamiya STI)

Hey folks... looks like it's been about a year since I last posted :o

Finally found some free time to finish this one (95% box stock):

Wow, it's so...... WHITE! Looking great, could seriously benefit from some black or grey wash in the door recesses. Other than that, I think it's a good combo. Mike, you frequent the MR2 board? Your name sounds familiar (if you are, deuce is a dead giveaway, ha!).

clem..

Im a big fan of white and yellow cars, this is a nice change from your everyday blue WRX.

Re: It's been a while... (yet another Tamiya STI)

Figured that decision would come back to haunt me... and I wanted to do it, too, but I've actually never black washed, so I guess this is the model I get to learn with

Good memory, clem! That is me, a fellow '91t owner:

Always nice to see familiar faces.

Ah yeah, love those white MR2s, especially with the front moulding on. I am still waiting on my '93 lip. Anyway, another small nitpick I spotted: your tires are mounted inside out (pirelli F Zero Asymmetrico right?). The directional tread part is supposed to be on the inside on the rim I believe...

clem..

Re: It's been a while... (yet another Tamiya STI)

I think it looks great!

A tip: When you take the tires off to turn them around take a file or some sandpaper and sand off the mold lines on the tires. In the first pic, it looks as though it's balancing like a grade-school chair.

Man, I'll have to check that out when I get a chance, you've got some great eyes to have spotted that. I can barely see the tread on my screen.

EMAXX: Those were "1/24 Volk Racing TE37MAG 18-inch Tire/Wheel set"... I have painted them with the same Tamiya Pure White Spray used on the body, but the original white they come shipped in is pretty close as well.

Jay: Thanks for the tip, I'll have to make it a habit to check under the tires in the future... I tend to forget about the rubber flash.
