Throttle Position sensor 1998 DOHC

I need to replace the throttle position sensor on my 1998 mercury sable. Does anyone have any idea how difficult this will be? Is it a sensor that I can just unplug and replace, or will it require taking half of my car apart to get to it? Also, will this sensor cause my transmision to shift hard between first and second?
