Windows XP logo compatibility

Has anyone had this Windows XP logo compatibility problem. I can't find a screenshot to show you. I keep getting it specifically with USB installation. I got a new printer and it won't complete the installation b/c of it. I'm taking it to my uncles thursday to get formated but was curious if anyone else has encountered this and or heard of it.

Windows XP and Windows 9x are completely different operating systems (in its own rights, even though they are essentially the same thing).

Basically XP have eliminated DOS and only have emulated dos, compared to 9x which was built on top of DOS (which have many restrictions).

Backwards compatibility would never work well but for the most part it seem to work for me, maybe the drivers your trying to install which was 9x based and not XP? If this is the case then it won't work as drivers provide a method for the opertaing system to communicate to the device in a low level form, but encapsulating the user/programmer which might utilize the hardware. So in essense you can't successfully (not that u can't install it, just won't work properly) install and use drivers which aren't created for a particular operating system.

Thanks for your reply. Now its a brand new printer. The HP 1350 to be exact. My friend was trying to fix something one time and then that when it started showing up. So I have no clue what caused it. But I'm taking it to my uncles tonight to clean everything off. Thanks again.
