XP Logo Compatability Problem

Hi guys,
Trying to get the last 6 months of windows updates on this machine, and no matter what I try, I get the message "This program has not passed compatability testing" and therefor can't install any updates. Any help?

Re: XP Logo Compatability Problem

I'm assuming you're using Windows XP.

Which program is giving you this error? Does it tell you which program is causing the issue? Where do you see the error? Webpage or something else stating the issue? Is it an error while it's attempting to install something? Some software isn't WHQL certified and you'll have to let it install anyway against Microsoft's better judgement.

Also, Microsoft's changed their Windows Update page and in order to make sure it's working correctly, clear out all your internet temp files. When you load Windows Update, it may ask you if you want to install the latest whatever it is when you load the page. Let it install - that's the plugin that reads what needs to be updated on your PC. Also make sure you have the Automatic Updates service set to "Automatic" and turned on. Windows Update won't work without it set this way. I always turn it on and update and then turn it back off when I'm done, but I don't like my PC to update on it's own without my direction.

Also, are you using a legit copy of Windows? Silly question, but sometimes pirated copies or keys can cause this.

Legit copy of XP Home. It is when trying to install anything from the latest version of windows update - haven't been able to install any updates for months. And it doesn't give you the option of installing anyway, just says this hasn't passed.

It could be your activated copy may be experiencing some problems with its cd key hence everything on windows update isn't valid. Best result is to start again if possible and see if updates work, if not then ring microsoft to see if the activated key is causing any problems. Actually you can do this first too, probably easier.
